State to Close RR Crossing?
September 13, 2005
RR Crossing on OH18 at Burbank Road
John Gardner, Community Develment Director
City of Stevens Point
August 31, 2005
"I understand the Canadian RR is petitioning the State to close the Old Highway 18
crossing at Burbank Rd. If this crossing closes, it will cut off bicyclists going
east of town. The only remaining safe routes would be Rainbow/9th St. or Porter Rd.
And I think it calls into question the need for an underpass at the RR because it
will not connect to any safe ways east. The underpass would connect the Business
Park to the city but that would be cut off from further east.
"Let me know how you feel about this closing. If you are concerned, we should express
our feelings to the Town of Stockton, the RR, and the [State of Wisconsin] RR
Commissioner."
