Pick-Up Team Time Trial (Our First Try) Heartland Pick-Up TTT Precision Cycling Event Course:Nature Loop Dist: 6.9 miles Thursday, August 23, 2007 Weather: Cloudy, 80 degrees, winds SW at 7. Our first Pick-up Team Time Trail, designed after those pick-up baseball or basketball games we had as kids, was great fun. While we only had enough riders show up to form one team (of five), we still had the race complete with timers, road guards, and all. The mixed team, dubbed the Lightning Busters (because of the rain that we encountered out on the course) finished the 6.9 miles in 18:00 flat, or 23.0 mph. What a blast!! Wish you could have been there to race or watch. Maybe next time we'll have enough for two (or more) teams? Then, with the added incentive, we'll be really cooking!! Jack Friess August 24, 2007
