It’s a “GO” for “Pedals For Police”

February, 20, 2018

Last fall the Heartland Bike Club Steering Committee saw that the Stevens Point Police Department was looking to expand their stable of police patrol bikes. Actually, they wanted to purchase an electric-assist Trek Police Edition patrol bike to add to the 3 non-electric bikes already in service. So the Committee approached the SPPD and asked if the Club could donate the funds needed to purchase that new bike. Just yesterday we received word from Corporal T.J. Wanta that Chief Skibba has been informed that the Stevens Point Police and Fire Commission gave their go-ahead for the donation and purchase of the new bike.

This good news comes on the heals of the HBC’s Steering Committee approving a donation of up to $1,500 of Club funds to SPPD for that bike. Wanting to fund the entire bike, about $3,000, the Committee created the Pedals For Police Program to raise the additional $1,500. You can get more information or donate online here on the HBC website.
