Tour de Trilliums
May 13 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Going on for more than 20 years, Tour de Trillium is a Heartland tradition. This ride is a chance to ride the forested back roads of western Portage County which are normally full of spring flowers this time of year. Especially noteworthy, the hundreds of white trilliums we usually see popping up on the forest floors. The trilliums might be later again this year. We’ll keep watching to see if we have the timing right.
We will set out heading to the west in search of trilliums. An informal ride of between 25 and 35 miles is planned, heading initially out West River Drive. If the trillium is out, we know the forest floors along Hwy PP and Linwood Drive will be covered. We will be hunting for more. This is a social ride and the pace will be set by those who show up. We may split into different groups based on riding abilities, but no one will have to ride alone.
Food and Drinks:
For those who want, we will gather after the ride at Emy J’s for refreshments (on your own). We can share stories about who saw the most/biggest trilliums!!
Things to Remember:
- The course will not be marked on the road.
- You will be responsible for getting yourself back to the start point. You may need to rely on a map if you fall back from, or get out in front of, the group.
- Even though we will be riding on country roads, remaining single file or at most two abreast and on the right side of the road shows respect for motorists, represents our Club well and is highly recommended.
- And as always, certified helmets are required to be worn when riding at all Heartland sponsored events.
