Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup

Saturday, April 28, 2012
9:00 AM
County Highway A, Nelsonville

(Corner of Highway 161 and Co Hwy A)

The Event: The Heartland Bike and Nordic Ski club has adopted County Highway "A" (North of HWY 161) just to the North of Amherst Junction to keep it clean and beautiful.

Meet at the Corner of County Highway "A" and Highway 161. Bring gloves, boots, and other appropriate clothing depending on the weather (might be cool). The Club will provide highway vehicle warning signs, orange vests, and trash bags.

Directions: Take US Hwy 10 east towards Amherst. Turn left on Hwy 161 towards Iola. Continue on Hwy 161 for about 6 miles to County Hwy A (on left). We will meet on that corner.

The Ride: There will be an impromptu ride following the clean-up at approximately noon leaving from Nelsonville village park. So, bring your gloves AND your bike!

Things to Remember:
  • The course will not be marked on the road.
  • You will be responsible for getting yourself back to the start point. You may need to rely on a map if you fall back from, or get out in front of, the group.
  • Even though we will be riding on country roads, remaining single file or at most two abreast and on the right side of the road shows respect for motorists, represents our Club well and is highly recommended.
  • And as always, certified helmets are required to be worn when riding at all Heartland sponsored events.
