Giro d'Grazies

Saturday, May 24th 2:30 p.m. Grazies Italian Grill
5327 Hwy 10 E, Stevens Point (Park in concrete drive just west of restaurant.)
The Event: The 4th Annual Giro d'Grazies starts from and ends at Grazies Italian Grill on Highway 10 East
in Stevens Point at 2:30 p.m. This fourth Giro d'Grazies continues a long tradition of a
late May Italian restaurant ride--formerly know as Olini's Afternoon Ride & Eats.
Directions: Exit I39 at the Stevens Point Hwy 10 E. exit. East on Hwy 10 E.
for about 2 blocks to traffic signal at Old Highway 18 (OH18). Turn south on OH18 for 1 block..
Turn east into the
drive of the Fairfield Inn, go past main entrance, and turn left (north) on concrete drive next to Grazies. Park on the right (east) side of the drive.
The Ride: There will be one approximately 25-30 mile ride (about 2
hours) in a loop near Stevens Point. While we take the name for this ride from that famous pro race in Italy in it final stages this weekend,
it is our vision that we will stay together as a "peloton" at an easy pace, socialize as we ride, and enjoy the springtime sights
and smells.
Depending on the weather and the winds, we will head N/S/E/W into the winds, and come back
with a tailwind!
The Eating: Those who want to stay and enjoy fine
Italian cuisine are encouraged to eat with us at Grazies "duthch treat" after the ride. Even if you can't make the ride, come join us at Grazies at 4:30 PM.
For all you race fans, highlights of the previous week of the real
Giro d'Italia will be broadcast on Versus (Channel 46) at 3:00 pm Sunday.
Things to Remember:
- The course will not be marked on the road.
- You will be responsible for getting yourselves back to the
start point. You will need to rely on a map (not provided) if you fall back from, or get out
in front of our group.
- Even though we will be riding on country roads, remaining
single file or at most two abreast and on the right side of the road shows
respect for motorists, represents our club well and is highly recommended.
- And as always, certified helmets are required to be worn when riding at all Heartland sponsored events.
