Heartland Special Report:

PC Rumble Strip Abatement Program
Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Winter/Spring, 2012
by: Heartland Rumble Strip Action Team
Jack Friess, Team Leader
In 2009 Heartland embarked on a mission to improve the road conditions for bicyclists on Portage County road at intersections with rumble strips installed. Enlisting the assistance of members in the form of the Rumble Strip Action Team, the Club, among other activities, opened discussions with PC highway officials with the goal to see what could be done to create riding corridors over/near the rumbles. Stephen Schlice, Asst. Hwy Commissioner, developed an innovative solution and implemented it on all 17 rumble strip locations in Portage County (see map, link above). These are photos of just one of these installations, located at PC Hwy HH and J about 3 miles east of Stevens Point.
